Start Northwest

Updates from behind the scenes for the northwest neighborhood site Start Northwest. Currently covering the Olympic Peninsula and Snoqualmie Valley regions.

Regional RSS for events online

I’ve just pushed up a handful of bug-fixes, in addition to finally activating the RSS feeds for event listings in a given region.

Links still need to be emebedded throughout the site, but your browser and rss-reader sniffers should be able to pick out the right URL by browsing to a given region’s event page:

(For the geeks out there, you can get the feed for a region by just attaching “.rss” to the end of the events section URL.)

Feeds for individual cities and categories should be coming soon, too… I wanted to get the biggies out of the way first though.

Easier than ever to submit events

Until today, event submission links were tucked away in dark corners of the site. Now there’s a big bold “add an event…” button on any page that lists events for a category, region, or city.

Since the launch Monday I’ve also pushed up a handful of tiny adjustments and fixes to add more polish to the experience. There’s still a lot more to do, but it’s coming along.

I’m expecting to have RSS feeds online tomorrow (so you won’t even need to come to the website to get your fix of local events and activities. ;)
